Seriously People…this computer issue of mine is driving me crazy!!

I got my computer back from the repair shop.  They said to me “I feel bad because we are the professionals…but I don’t know that we actually did anything to fix it”.  But, apparently, my computer got an attitude adjustment and eventually booted up, with all my programs and data in tact, even got online … both plugged-in and wirelessly.  Hallelujah!!

I brought it home, it worked for about two hours…wirelessly…and then started back to its old habits.  My husband says I “blogged it to death”.  Real funny.

Are any of you tech junkies out there?  Can you give me suggestions?
The main problem is that my internet says it is connected, then automatically says not connected, connecting, connected, not connected, connecting, connected, not connected….and on…and on…and on…over and over again!!!!

Verizon swears it isn’t their router.  That it is my PC.  I think the router isn’t handing out enough IP Addresses to support all the technology in my house.  After all, this all started after I got my fancy-schmancy tablet for Christmas.  It seems to be the only logical cause.

Thoughts?  Ideas?  Ways to fix it?

I need wine.

You know what else I have been dealing with?  School.  My son’s school.  It isn’t pretty…and I’m angry.  You can read all about it, Mama Bear Roars, on my other blog…The Crappy Housewife. This blog is about Real Life, brought to you by Your’s Truly, and my blog partner Jackie.  It is new, we are just getting started, and would love for you to follow us in our journey!

For the love of wine…computers that work…and weekends.

  1. Have you tried rebooting the router? (unplugging it and plugging it back in). I'm having this same issue with mine. I have to reboot several times a day. My husband (the tech junkie) says we need to get a new router. Which will happen eventually. Good luck!

    1. Oh Trish...I have done that so many times!! I wish that was the fix. I am leaning towards my router as needing replacing. Verizon doesn't seem to think so though! Frustrating. Cheers! ~S

  2. Sometimes I think these "wonder machines" are way too temperamental! Glad you are back, we missed you!

  3. Sometimes changing the password does the trick. We did that with ours, and we haven't(knock on wood and anything that resembles wood) had an issue since!

  4. I don't know anything about computers. I know we did have issues with Verizon's wireless router in our home. I just told myself the computer was dead and gave up the headache. Stopping by from SITS.

    1. Darn the Verizon Routers. I know I should call them again, but the thought of it is enough to make my stomach churn! oh well. Cheers! ~S

  5. I wish I could help, but my techie husband deals with all of this for us. I would try replacing the router. We've had to do that before and it would be cheaper than replacing the computer. However, if you are in the market, I really love my mac. Switched years ago and will never go back. Cheers!

    1. I know I need to call Verizon again. I just don't want to. It was sooooo painful! I hear amazing things about Macs...it is just the cost holding me back. Thanks though. Cheers! ~S
