Wine Bottle Halloween Decor

With all the wine I taste and try, I do have my fair share of empty bottles hanging around the house.  I keep telling my hubby that I am going to use them for a project, so that they don’t all get sent to the recycle bin.  Wouldn’t you know, I had an opportunity to do just that!  I was at my local World Market store, just browsing around, and I saw these candles…calling my name.  Instantly, I knew how I would use them!

Ok.  Clearly I had too much fun on Picmonkey with their Halloween overlays.  But, seriously.  Do you see that cool skull candle???  I had to whittle off {sorry, my Mid-west is showing} some of the wax from the bottom of the candle so that it would fit snugly into the opening of the wine bottle.  But that is it!  Easy, awesome, fun, Halloween decorations!  I love how the wax drips down the side of the bottle.  And, the black and white wine label is just the perfect touch to the freaky flair.

You could also alternate burning the white skull candle with a red candle…to make it look like blood dripping.

My only word of advice… Put something under the bottle when the candle is lit to catch the rogue wax drips.  I put some aluminum foil under it, you could also use a paper towel, or some newspaper.  Just something to protect your table or countertop.

Have you ever put candles in wine bottles before?  How do you use your left over wine bottles?  To fun and easy Halloween décor…cheers!

PS…The wine used in this picture is a Beringer Pinot Grigio.  You can buy it here 2011 Beringer Founders’ Estate Pinot Grigio 750ml{affiliate link}
