I have had wine from Chile before and remember being impressed. Let’s see what this one is like. We popped the cork and poured a couple of glasses. Here is my take…
{Now, remember, this is my personal Wine{a}be opinion. I don’t have any technical knowledge on wine. I just like it.}
Sight: Very dark red in color…quite seductive actually. It looks exotic in the glass…dark almost black cherry red at the center with a berry stained ring around the edge. {I tried to capture the berry colored ring in the pic…if you look closely you might see it. I’ll get better at these pics one day}
Sniff: Fruity, rich, yummy. Combine the smell with the exotic appearance…I can almost envision the grapes being squeezed, drop by drop into my mouth. You know, Goddess style…while being fanned with giant palm fronds.
Sip: Ummm….hello…. Amazing fruity start, dry finish…that lingers… {but not too dry…just enough} Ok, scratch Goddess Style. I’m getting more of a Twilight vibe…the dark red seductive wine, enticing scent mixed with can’t resist, begs to be tasted again flavor. Yes, Twilight…and I’m definitely a fan. {Can you tell I recently saw the movie…again…and it is still on my mind}
So, there you have it. Hubby and I thoroughly enjoy this wine…we have bought many more bottles since. I have had it with many different meals from roasted pork to veggie pizza, and yes, my beloved brownies. It has been fabulous with everything. It was especially wonderful after a long day of painting my {formal no longer} dining-room-turned-family-study. I heart this wine.
Have you tried any wines lately that you are in love with? In like with? Or mildly Twilight-ish obsessed with? Please do share. I need more to try! Cheers!
{FYI, I was in no way compensated for this review}
Suzanne you just brought back some great memories for me! As you know, we just moved here from Chile and during our six years there we visited many of the wineries, Santa Ema included. We love Chilean wine and are so happy to see it sold here, for prices that are about the same as in Chile! While shopping look for Montes and Errazuriz wineries and try a Carmenere. The Carmenere grape comes with a great story, which I will be happy to share with you over a glass of wine sometime:) Salud! Kryssa
ReplyDeleteKryssa...so glad to hear it!! So fun for me that you have been to Santa Ema...what an amazing experience!! Yes, we NEED to have a glass of wine, and I want to hear all your Chilean winery experiences. Just Amazing. Thank you so much for sharing!! I will look for those other wineries when shopping!! ;) Salud! ~S
DeleteHi! I love Chilean wines, in particular their Cabernet Sauvignons. I have a fond memory about being introduced to the Casillero del Diablo Cab in Guatemala that turned me on to Chilean wines. Thanks for reviewing this one! I'll be sure to look it up the next time we are at the store.
ReplyDeleteI'd also like to hear more about the great story behind Carmenere grapes. So if you do get the story over a glass of wine, please be sure to share it here too.
Stopping by from SITS31DBBB and and now following on google reader. I'd love to be buddies. Cheers!
I will share the Carmenere grape story...when I get it! ;)
DeleteThanks for stopping in Deanna. Cheers to good blogging buddies!

I also love Chilean wines. I tried a new wine the other day - a cab called "Three Girls" for the simple reason that I'm one of 3 girls. For $12 or $13 it was really smooth. So smooth I drank the whole bottle plus some.
ReplyDeleteYay you! It is a happy day when you find a wine you love that much! Cheers to you! I'll look for that wine next time!
